Help & Support
Everything you need to get the most out of TeleoTV. Pick a topic from the list, or scroll through.
Getting started
TeleoTV works as soon as you open it. You can use the app straight away without creating an account, and your channels, favourites, and settings stay with you on this device.
You can sign in or create a free account at any time:
- On first launch, tap Create Free Account or Sign In on the Welcome screen.
- Or open Profile later and sign in from there. Anything you set up before signing in (favourites, channels, region) is kept when you do.
During first-run onboarding the app will ask you to:
- Enter a name (optional, used in the app only).
- Pick your TV platform, such as Freeview, Sky, Virgin, or Freesat.
- Pick your region.
- Choose a theme, and an app icon on supported devices.
- Allow notifications if you want the daily Popular Today picks, or to set reminders on programmes yourself. The prompt is skippable and can be changed later from your device settings or in Profile.
Using the TV guide
The Guide tab shows a live grid of every channel you have enabled, with what is airing now and what is coming up next. Channels are listed one per row, and the grid scrolls sideways through the day.
- Use the header at the top of Guide to change the date or jump back to Now.
- Tap any programme to open its details, including synopsis, image, cast, categories, channel, share, and favourite controls.
- Tap a channel logo to open that channel's full schedule, with Now, Tonight, and Tomorrow filters.
The Explore tab is for discovery rather than the grid. It surfaces what is popular today, lets you browse by category (films, sport, news, kids, and more), and lets you jump straight to any channel.
Changing region or platform
TeleoTV listings are specific to the TV platform and region you watch on, because Freeview, Freesat, Sky, and Virgin all carry different channels, and channel numbers vary by region.
To change either:
- Open Profile.
- Under Guide, tap Region.
- Pick your platform, then your region.
Once you change platform or region, your Guide grid, Explore tab, and channel list all update to match. If the channels in your Guide look wrong, the most common fix is to check that the platform and region match the TV setup you actually use at home.
Managing channels
Each platform and region comes with a full list of channels. You can hide the ones you never watch and arrange the rest in the order you want them to appear in the Guide.
Open the Channels screen from Profile > Channels. The header shows how many channels are currently enabled out of the total for your region.
Enable or disable a channel by tapping the switch on its row. Disabled channels are hidden from the Guide grid but stay in the list, so you can re-enable them any time and they reappear in your Guide.
Reorder channels by opening the options menu on the Channels screen and choosing Sort. From there you can:
- Drag the handle on any channel row to move it up or down. The new order applies immediately to your Guide.
- Use the quick-sort buttons to reorder the whole list by channel name (A-Z or Z-A) or by channel number (low to high or high to low).
Bulk enable or disable groups of channels from the options menu by choosing Filter. Tap the tick to enable every channel in a group, or the cross to disable them all. Groups include HD, Regional, +1, and Family Safe channels, plus every channel category (sport, films, news, kids, and so on).
Favourites
Favourites in TeleoTV are saved per programme, not per airing. Once you favourite a show, every future broadcast of that show across your enabled channels is grouped under that one favourite.
- To save a favourite, open a programme's details and tap the heart icon. Tap it again to remove.
- The Favourites tab in the bottom bar shows every show you have saved.
- Tap the list icon on Favourites to open a chronological list of upcoming broadcasts across all your favourites, for the next several days.
- Tap Edit on Favourites to reorder, sort (A-Z, recently added first, or oldest first), or remove favourites in bulk.
Notifications
TeleoTV uses notifications for two things: the daily Popular Today picks, and Programme Reminders on the shows you ask to be reminded about. Notifications are off until you grant permission on your device.
- During onboarding the app asks for notification permission. You can also grant or revoke it any time from your device settings.
- Open Profile, then Notification Settings, to turn the Popular Today and Programme Reminders sends on or off independently.
- Pick how far ahead you want the reminder, currently 15 or 30 minutes before air time.
- If you previously denied notifications at the device level, TeleoTV cannot turn them on for you. The screen will show the current status and offer a shortcut to open your device's notification settings for TeleoTV.
Notification settings are stored on the current device. Turning them on here does not enable them on your other devices.
Programme Reminders
Tap the bell on any programme to add it to your reminders. The bell follows the show, not a single broadcast - TeleoTV will push you a notification ahead of every upcoming airing, 15 or 30 minutes before air time depending on what you picked in Notification Settings.
- See all your reminders in Profile, under Programme Reminders. From there you can remove any you no longer want.
- If the same show airs on more than one channel at the same time, you get a single reminder for that slot rather than one per channel.
- The Programme Reminders toggle in Notification Settings pauses sends on this device without losing your saved reminders. Turn it back on whenever you want and future reminders resume.
- When sends are paused - because notifications are off, or because the Programme Reminders toggle is off - your reminders list shows as Paused. Your saved reminders stay where they are.
Calendar Button
Programme cards and detail screens also have a calendar button. This is different from the bell: tapping it adds a single event to your device's calendar for that one broadcast only, on that channel, at that time.
- The event lives in your normal calendar app alongside your other appointments, and syncs through whatever calendar account it lands in (iCloud, Google, Exchange).
- Your device handles the alerts. TeleoTV asks the calendar to set a 15-minute and a 1-minute alarm before the airing, so you get a heads-up even if app notifications are turned off.
- The event notes include a deep link back into TeleoTV, so you can jump straight to the programme from the calendar entry.
- The calendar button does not follow the show. If the programme airs again next week, you will not get a calendar event for that one unless you tap the calendar button on it as well.
Bell or calendar - which should I use?
- Use the bell when you want to keep catching a show whenever it is on - returning series, regular repeats, anything you do not want to miss across multiple airings.
- Use the calendar button when you care about one specific broadcast - a live event, a film at a fixed time, or something you want sitting in your calendar so you can plan around it.
- They are not mutually exclusive. You can tap both on the same programme if you want an ongoing push reminder and a calendar entry for a particular airing.
Appearance and app settings
You can personalise how TeleoTV looks and feels:
- Theme: choose Light, Dark, or follow your device theme. Set it in Profile > Theme.
- App icon: on supported devices, pick from a range of alternative home-screen icons in Profile > App Icon. If your device does not support alternate icons, the screen will say so.
- Haptics: turn vibration feedback on or off in Profile > Haptics.
Appearance settings are stored on the current device, so each device you install TeleoTV on can have its own theme, icon, and haptics preferences.
Account, reset, and delete
You can use TeleoTV with or without an account. Once you sign in, your email appears in Profile > Your Details and you can sign out from there. If you have not signed in, there is no sign-out option because nothing is signed in on this device.
- Edit name: tap your name in Profile to change it. The name is used inside the app only.
- Sign out: under Your Details if you have an account. You can sign back in any time.
- Reset app data: under Profile > Danger Area. This signs you out, wipes your local data, and marks your account for automatic deletion.
After you reset, your account is permanently deleted from our systems after 28 days. If you sign back in within that window, the pending deletion is cancelled and your account is reactivated. For the full account-deletion process, see Delete account.
Programme or guide data looks wrong
If a programme or channel does not look right, work through these steps:
- Stale listings: pull to refresh on the Guide tab. The app will fetch the latest schedule for your region.
- Wrong channels: check that your platform and region in Profile > Region match the TV setup you actually use. Different platforms carry different channels.
- Missing channels: open Profile > Channels and make sure the channel is enabled. Hidden channels do not appear in the Guide.
- Wrong programme details: if a title, synopsis, or time looks wrong, email us at hello@teleotv.co.uk with the channel, date, and programme so we can investigate and check it with our data sources.
For app problems that are not about listings - crashes, slow loading, layout glitches, or a feature not working - use Profile > About > Report a Bug. The form submits diagnostic information about your device along with your description so we can investigate faster.
